# Privacy

The short version: what you enter stays in your browser.

## What you enter

Every tool works in your browser. Match results, ratings, crosstables and clock settings are never sent to a server, and nothing is uploaded. A CSV file you import into the tie-break calculator is read in the browser and never leaves your device. The share links of the match calculator and the Chess960 page carry the score or position number after the # in the address, which browsers do not send to the server.

## What is stored on your device

The match calculator saves its players, settings and results in your browser’s local storage under the name `chessmeadow-match`, and the chess clock saves its time control under `chessmeadow-clock`, so they are there next time on this device. If you choose light or dark with the theme button, that choice is saved under `chessmeadow-theme`. Nothing else is stored, and the site does not use cookies. Clearing your browser’s site data removes all three.

## Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it never receives what you type into the tools. There are no ads and no other trackers.

## Links and hosting

Links to other sites, such as the sources and the two recommended services, take you to sites with their own privacy policies. The pages are served by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, handles the network requests your browser makes to load them. The fonts and scripts come from this site, not from third parties.
