## FIDE World Championship Match 2026: the facts

Confirmed from FIDE’s regulations for the match and FIDE’s schedule announcement, as of 2 November 2026.

## If the match ends 7–7

FIDE’s regulations (Article 4.4.2) set out the tie-break, played under the rapid and blitz appendices of the Laws of Chess, with a drawing of lots for colours before each stage:

1. Four games at 15 minutes plus 10 seconds per move.
2. If still level, two games at 10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move.
3. If still level, two games at 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move.
4. Then single games at 3 minutes plus 2 seconds, with colours reversed after each draw, until one game is won.

## How the match calculator works

Each row of the score sheet is one game. Tap the winner’s name or ½ for a draw; the dash clears a game and every game after it, because results go in game order. The panel shows the score, what each player still needs and the earliest game in which either could clinch the title. “Cannot reach 7½” means a player can no longer win outright in classical games; “cannot lose outright” means the opponent can no longer reach 7½. Once someone reaches the target, the remaining games are marked as not played.

For any other match, open Match settings: change the names, the number of games, the points to win and who has White in game 1. Results are saved in this browser, and Copy share link gives a link that opens the same score elsewhere. Live results are not fetched: you enter them yourself.

**How many points are needed to win the 2026 match?**
