# About Chess Meadow

Small, free chess tools for people following the World Championship, club and online players, tournament organisers and parents of junior players.

## What it is

Chess Meadow follows a chess match game by game, works out FIDE rating changes and performance ratings, ranks a tournament with FIDE tie-breaks, shows any Chess960 start position, lists every World Championship since 1886 and runs a chess clock. It is not connected with FIDE or any federation, and it shows no live results: you enter them yourself.

## Where the rules come from

Each page names its sources in a short “Sources” section: the FIDE Handbook for the rating, title and tie-break regulations and the Laws of Chess, FIDE’s regulations and announcements for the 2026 World Championship match, the US Chess rulebook for clock delays, and Wikipedia, said where it is used, for the list of past championships and the Chess960 numbering. Match facts carry the date they were checked. If a figure here ever disagrees with the source, the source wins.

## How it works

The tools run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, there are no accounts, ads or cookies, and the pages keep working offline once loaded. The match calculator, the clock settings and your theme choice are saved only in your browser’s local storage. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type into the tools. The [privacy page](https://chessmeadow.me/privacy/) has the details.
